Explore We know that plants need sunlight, carbon dioxide and water in order to produce photosynthesis. We know that when we breathe out, we produce Carbon dioxide but in our experiment, we thought baking soda worked more efficient then the breath from our mouths.
Research Question How does the different amount of baking soda affect the photosynthesis in the leaf discs?
Predictions We think that it will make more leaves come up more with the more baking soda we use.
Experimental Design 1. We are going to have to get all of our materials together and set them up. 2. We will punch out 14 leaf disks,using a hole puncher. 3. We will then get out our graduated cylinder and measure 100 ml of water. 4. We shall then put the water, add 2.0 g of baking soda in the cup and put leaf disks into the syringe with water. Then we shall get the air bubbles out of the syringe. 5. Wait 10 minutes, record how many leaf disks float to the top every minute (have a stopwatch present0 6. Pinch out 14 more spinach leaf discs, get clean water and then add 2.5 g of Baking Soda into it. 7. Get your syringe and put your 14 leaf discs in your syringe, add water hallway and get the water's air bubbles out. 8. Then proceed to put the Spinach leaf disks in the glass of water and wait 10 minutes.
