We had a minimal amount of knowledge about plants. We knew why plants were green because the plants reflect green light. We have discovered a lot about plants. We have learned about how they reproduce. C-ferns use spores instead of seeds to germinate and reproduce. A question that interests us in how a plant can become a hybrid plant. |
Research Question |
How does serial dilution effect the density of the spores? |
Predictions |
We think that the more diluted the serum becomes, the less dense the spores will become, resulting in a larger male to female ratio. |
Experimental Design |
1. Have four dishes to inoculate.
2. Standard inoculation a dish.
3. Dilute the serum in 10 ml of water and inoculate a dish
4. Dilute the serum in 15 ml of water and inoculate a dish
5. Dilute the serum in 20 ml of water and inoculate a dish
6. Count the original amount of spores in the dishes
7. On the tenth and twelfth day count the amount of males and females
8. Record our data |
Conclusion |
We concluded that the more serial dilution that the serum undergoes, the higher the ratio of females to males will be. |
