Research Interests (300 words)My current research focuses on a mustard plant, Boechera stricta, and how it has adapted to its local environments. I study the genetic basis of local adaptation across elevational and climate gradients to decipher how climate change will affect plant populations.

Profile Question 1What is your favorite plant? Why?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):My favorite plant is called Mimosa pudica (the Sensitive plant). You touch it and the leaves will fold inward almost instantly! I wanted to know how it worked and so I began studying plants. Now I am where I am because of my interest in this fascinating plant!

Profile Question 2When and why did you decide to go into a science career?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):I have always been excited about science. As a kid, I wanted a microscope so badly. I remember getting one when I was 7 or 8. I don't know what exactly got me interested in science, but the more I learned about it, the more I knew I wanted to pursue a career in science. It has been a lot of hard work, but I have loved it!
