We know they need sunlight and water to grow. In class, we learned about the evolution of plants and how different plants have different needs. What other factors affect the rate of photosynthesis besides light color? |
Research Question |
How does red light affect the rate of photosynthesis? We had different options of variables to test but we were all the most curious about light color. We know that light affects photosynthesis but we want to see it for ourselves. |
Predictions |
The red light is going to speed up the process of photosynthesis. We know this because red light helps plants flower and fruit. |
Experimental Design |
What is the independent variable? The red light. What is the dependent variable? How will you measure this variable? The rate of photosynthesis, it will be measured by the number of rising disks per minute. What variables need to be help constant? The amount of CO2 and H2O, number and type of leaves.
Describe the control set-up:
A syringe with a regular room light.
Describe the experimental set-up:
Two syringes with CO2 water and five leaf circles, one with red light and one with a regular room light.
We are going to record our data in a chart. |
