We know what is inside the plant, how they reproduce and germinate, and we also know how to grow them. |
Research Question |
We are going to study pollen, grow pollen tubes, and observe pollinators. |
Predictions |
1. Pollen - We predicted pollen would look different from different species and similar from the same species.
2. Pollen tubes- We predicted that we would see more pollen tubes with the onion skins than with the other ones.
3. Pollinators- We predicted that we would see more bees than flies pollinate plants. |
Experimental Design |
1. pollen - Observe various types of pollen at 400x mag.
2. pollen tubes - Prep pollen in a petri dish that we made into humidity chambers.
3. pollinators - we observed pollinators that we found in our church garden. |
Conclusion |
From our observations we conclude that pollen from different species range in size and color, but pollen from the same species look the same. We could not get a effective observation on pollen tubes because our data was destroyed during the experiment. For the pollinators we conclude that more bees came to the bright and sunny flowers where as for flies came to the shady white flowers. |
