When another variant such as salt, lemon, baking soda, etc. enters a cell with a semipermeable layer that is what allows osmosis, it will generate a pressure for only one side until it stabilizes throughout the cell and generates an osmotic pressure. |
Research Question |
Does pH would change the bending or the growth of the celery? |
Predictions |
The expected result of the experiment will be a great transformation in the shape of the celery specifically going to curl or bend depending in the pH level |
Experimental Design |
3 Punch cup,3 Celery sticks, vinegar,Bicarbonate,Celery length:10 cm, width:1-2 cm.
The first step before starting this great experiment is to make sure you have the necessary objects for this experiment and if they are in acceptable conditions. Then the containers (punch cups) are classified with a marker to know what the water in each container contains. Containers are filled- 11cm.Having the containers already filled with pure water, add the vinegar and the bicarbonate to the water, they need to be the same mass (there would be 3 containers, one of them would be the control group that would be pure water only) then we provide to use the litmus paper to text the pH of the water of the 3 containers, then gather data and put the pH level in the cups , having the containers completely ready, add a piece of celery and stored in a refrigerator to keep them cool for the investigation. The examinations will be taken 3 times a week, between Monday,Wednesday and Friday, Monday and Friday, the pH measurements, the growth of the plant and observations of the plant tissue are taken, while on Wednesday it will only be revised if there was any change in the plant. |
Conclusion |
Our conclusion is: celery will bend more with water than changing the ph of the water. |
