We know that plants go through photosynthesis and need water & sunlight to grow. We discovered in class that plants not only photosynthesize but they also go through cellular respiration. We are interested in figuring out how the type of plant affects the rate of photosynthesis. |
Research Question |
What do we want to test or study? How do we come up with the questions? How do the questions fit what we know about the topic? |
Predictions |
Some possible outcomes of our study are that the terrestrial plants might have a higher rate of photosynthesis than the aquatic plant. This is because most terrestrial plants are exposed to more sunlight where the aquatic plant might not have as much sunlight to photosynthesis. |
Experimental Design |
Independent variable : Aquatic Plant
Dependent Variable :Rate Of photosynthesis
Control Variable : Terrestrial Plant
Materials: 2cups, Sharpie, Sea Weed Plant , Spinach Plant , Salt Water , Fresh Water , Hole Puncher, Rulers ,Lamp ,Soap. |
Conclusion |
A claim we can make from our experiment is that terrestrial plants have a higher rate of photosynthesis than aquatic plants. Some possible explanations for our results are that most terrestrial plants are exposed to more sunlight than aquatic plants are. Our data collection and our reasoning with scientific ideas support our claim by showing us the rate of photosynthesis in both aquatic and terrestrial plants. Some future experiments that can be done to help expand on the results of this experiment are testing the rate of photosynthesis in their natural habitat to see how the rate of photosynthesis changes. |
