The Plant Wrap Experiment

Project by group othsmikosspring2020

Explore Plants need all of the reactants of photosynthesis to perform photosynthesis.
Research Question What is the difference in the rate of photosynthesis when a plant has a clear layer between the plant and the light source and another does not?
Predictions The plant with the plastic layer might die because the UV Rays are not able to reach the plant through the plastic layer.
Experimental Design We will have two cups with 3 cm of water with 10 spinach leaves. The spinach leaves will not have the veins from the spinach on them. The cups will be equidistant to the lamps. Both of the cups will be given 1 tsp of baking soda. One of the plants will have a clear layer of plastic wrap between them and the lamp. The leaves will be depleted of oxygen before we put them into the cups. We will be measuring how many leaves are floating by the end of each minute from the beginning.
