We know that plants grow from seeds, we know they need water to grow, and we know plants make their own food. We also have questions. How much water is needed to grow a plant? Is it better to water a plant too much or too little? Which climate is better to grow ryegrass in? |
Research Question |
How does climate affect plant growth? |
Predictions |
We think that the rainforest projects will do the best because of the humidity in the project. It is constantly being watered and overall it will grow better. |
Experimental Design |
Our experiment is to see how ryegrass grows in an arid climate, a controlled climate, and a rainforest climate. There will be 3 different plants growing in each climate adding up to 9 experiments. |
Conclusion |
How do climates affect plant growth? In our data taken you can see that different types of climates affect plants differently, mostly by height but also by number of sprouts. Our predictions were mostly correct, we predicted that the rainforest projects would grow the best and tallest. We also predicted that the arid projects wouldn’t grow very well because of the lack of water, in reality, the arid projects did almost as well as the controlled. This happened because, at the beginning of the project we watered the arid projects too much, they were supposed to be dried out but in reality, they were as moist as the control. This wasn’t good because we were testing water usage and climates, this messed up our experiment. If we were to do this in the future I wouldn’t water the plants how we did at the beginning, this mistake messed up our whole experiment. |
