Code Potato

Project by group nebuzzellspring2017

Explore We all have experience with growing plants, because we have all had gardens at our houses.
Research Question Will growing a plant in a container with less space effect the way the plant grows?
Predictions We think that if the plant is grown in a pot that has less space, it will be shorter and will not grow as well. Plants need a certain amount of space to grow properly; but if we cut holes in the sides of the pot we will hve more plants in a smaller space.
Experimental Design Material List: - Mung bean seeds - Soil - 2 bottles (experimental group) -2 pots (control group) - Water Procedure: Put the same amount of soil in each container. Soak the mung beans for 24 hours. Plant eight mung beans in two two bottles and eight mung beans in two pots. Plant each seed 2 inches deep. Water them. Measure the plants each day after they sprout. After they measure, compare the height of each plant. We cut holes the sides of the bottles so that the plants have more space to grow.
Conclusion Our hypothesis was not correct. If we were to do the experiment again, we would make sure that the plants were planted at the correct depth.
