mhsmirandaspring2020 project 10

Project by group mhsmirandaspring2020

Explore Depending on the plant, some may need a lot of sunlight while some need very little. In class, we have discovered that too much water can drown the plant and too little can prevent it from receiving the nutrients it needs. Some questions that interest us are: can plants grow with different liquids besides water.
Research Question Will radishes grow with different types of liquids besides water?
Predictions Watering plants with different liquids would grow radishes with gatorade, apple juice, pepsi, and water. While watering them with coffee, rubbing alcohol, and milk will die the radishes out.
Experimental Design Materials will be provided by all group members. Red cups, Soda is provided by Aileen Sports drink is provided by Stabivs Apple juice will be provided by Marilyn Coffee will be provided by Ruth Water is in class or anywhere else. Milk (1% low fat) will be provided by the school Rubbing Alcohol will be provided by Mr. Miranda Step 1: Stabivs will fill each container (red cup) with miracle soil, ¾ of the way and plant the radishes in the middle (½ cup). Miracle Soil will be found at the greenhouse. Radishes will be provided by Mr. Miranda Step 2: Marilyn will water 4 days a week, ¾ of a cup of each liquid except acetone, it will be mixed with 1/2 a cup of water and 1/4 of acetone. Watering: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday Liquids: water, apple-juice, coffee, rubbing alcohol, soda (pepsi), 1% low-fat milk, and sports drink (gatorade) If Marilyn is not there, Aileen will water. Cups will be placed under light in Mr. Mirandas room Step 3: Aileen will take pictures of the progress from start to finish, including materials and progress of plant growth. Aileen will take pictures on her phone and print it for poster board. Pictures will be taken of the whole process. Step 4: Ruth will keep track of the measurements and take notes on what’s happening with the plant. Ruth will have a graph to record data, growth of the radishes and she will report whether or not some of the liquids helped the plant grow.
