Explore Not much. A deeper understanding of photosynthesis and how a plant gets it's mass. How do they begin?
Research Question How does changing the color of the water affect the photosynthesis of the plant?
Predictions We think the leaf disks in colored water will rise slower.
Experimental Design · Cut spinach leaves into 20 round disks with hole puncher · Infiltrate the leaf disks with plastic syringe · Take 2 50 ml cups and dill to the 40 ml mark with water · Put 1 teaspoon of red food coloring into one of the cups · Put the cups under 72 watt light bulbs · Put 2 drops of diluted dish soap into each of the 2 cups · Put 10 leaf disks in each cup · Record how many leaf disks have risen at the end of each minute until reached 20 minutes
