Plant in the Cabinet

Project by group ehsshannonfall2021

Explore Does the light’s distance from the plant affect it’s ability to photosynthesize? Does the intensity of the light?
Research Question Will a plant further away from the light further from the light grow less than a plant closer to the plant?
Predictions The closest one will grow best because there is more intense light hitting the closest plant.
Experimental Design Put one plant at 1 foot away from the light, one plant at 2 feet, and one plant at 3 feet. 1. Fill 3 cups with 300ml of water and 1 gram of baking soda each. 2. Use a syringe to create a vacuum and release all the carbon dioxide from 30 leaf disks. 3. Place 10 disks into each cup 4. Place the cups in front of the light, each 1 foot further from the light. 5. Record how many leaf disks rise in each cup every minute for 15 minutes. 6. Repeat steps 1-5 5 times.
