We know that plants require water and sunlight to grow. They also go through processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Plants have to germinate to grow. |
Research Question |
How will the temperature of the water affect the growth of a pea plant. |
Predictions |
The cold water will help the plant grow more. If the water is too hot then the plant will die. |
Experimental Design |
Take around 15 pea seeds and place them in separate petri dishes (5 a dish). Take one of the seeds and place it in 34-40 degree water. Then take another seed and place it in another dish and place it in
60-70 degree water. Finally, place the final seed in a dish with 75-85 degree water. |
Conclusion |
At the end of our experiment, the seeds in the 60-70 temperature range grew the most, the seeds in the 75-80 grew the least, and the seeds in the cold temperature got lost so we do not have a complete set of data for those seeds. This happened because our pea seeds germinated around the 5th day prior to planting them. Our 60-70 degree water had the most growth and we think this is because low temps slow the rate of photosynthesis, also slowing the growth rate. |
