There are three main types of pea plants. Pea seeds can grow up to 1.8 meters tall or 6 feet. |
Research Question |
How does contact with the plant by non-sanitary, sanitary, gloves, and then tweezers affect the plant's germination rate? (Measured by first Radical seen) |
Predictions |
If we touch the seeds with our non- sanitary or dirty hands then the pea seed will grow slowest or not grow at all. |
Experimental Design |
1.) Place 4 paper towel circles in Petri dishes.
2.) Place all 5 pea seeds in each Petri dish.
3.) Water each seeds every day with 8 ml of water.
4.) Handle the seeds each day with the actions on the right.
5.) Measure the length of all the seeds.
6.) Do steps 3 -5 every day for a week. |
Conclusion |
If you touch the pea seeds with sanitary hands then the plant will collect the germs and slow the growth.
From our data at the end of the investigation the sanitary hands slowed in growth that at the end it ended as the one with the least average growth that day with 27.6mm. this surprised us because at the beginning it was doing the best wit and average of 5.7mm
We believe this happened because of additives in the soap. Additives are harmful to plants and can stunt their growth. The additives mad the plant decrease in growth. |
