Sad Seaweed

Project by group dmsstiemspring2021

Explore We know that plants need Carbon Dioxide, and water to grow. We also know that plants need Sunlight Energy or ATP Energy to help them grow. We also know that certain seeds / plants need certain circumstances to grow.
Research Question how does the temperature of water affect a plants germination
Predictions We think that the buckwheat seed will grow at the same speed in Warm water and Coldwater. This is because, if you were to drink a cup of cold water after running a mile, and a cup of warm water after running a mile. Then you would get the same amount of energy.
Experimental Design Put the seed in the paper towel and then put the paper towel inside the bag. After that pour 10 milliliters of very cold water(35-45 degrees Fahrenheit), warm water(60-65 degrees Fahrenheit), hot water(90-98 degrees Fahrenheit), and very hot water( 100-105 degrees Fahrenheit) in each bag. Repeat the process and each day measure how long the plant grows each day.
Conclusion My claim was if you give a plant a different temperature of water do affect a plants germination the evidence does because in the data table you see that the warm water grew to 8cm and the 100-105 degree eater only grew 0.8 cm so this proves how the water temperature drastically changes the growth of a plant. Most of the seeds on the first and second day did not grow and the seeds with 100-105 water (mine) didnt grow until the last day of the experiment. The reason I think the warm water worked so well is because the plant likes 75 and above degree water but I think that even thought it was under that the seeds preferred that over all the other temperatures. This is why my finding challenge my prior knowledge because my group thought the seeds would grow the same and they didn’t
