Explore We know that seeds are alive. Seeds come from other seeds. Germination means to start growing. They wait for water, correct temperature, and a good location.
Research Question What type of liquid makes a plant germinate the fastest?
Predictions Garrett- The sugar water will make the seed germinate the fastest. Venicio- The tap water will make the seed germinate the fastest. Elliott- The tap water will make the seed germinate the fastest. Nathaniel- The sugar water will make the seed germinate the fastest.
Experimental Design 1: Put the paper towel in the petri dish 2: Dampen the paper towel with 20 drops of water from an eye dropper 3: Place alfalfa seed on paper towel in shaded area 4: Place lid on petri dish 5: Repeat steps 1-4 for different types of water 6: Repeat steps 2 and 4 every day of the week 7: Measure plant growth every day
Conclusion the tap water made the seeds germinate the fastest out of salt and sugar water. The sugar water had 0 germinated seeds, the salt water had 0 germinated seeds as well, but the tap water had 8 germinated. seeds.
