Explore You need water in order for photosynthesis to take place Plants don't always sprout Plants need oxygen Plants need sunlight and water Different seeds require different things seeds have energy stored in them that came from the original
Research Question How does the amount of water affect the germination rate of alfalfa seeds?
Predictions If you give a alfalfa seed more water than another then, it will effect the germination rate positively.
Experimental Design We will place 10 alfalfa seeds into 5 different petri dishes. Each day for 2 weeks. we will put 0 oz of water in 1 petri dish. We will put 3 oz of water in 1 petri dish. We will put 6 oz of water in 1 petri dish. we will put 9 oz of water in 1 petri dish. we will put 12 oz of water in 1 petri dish. Repeat each day For 2 weeks and on the last we will observe the number sprouted. We will observe the germination rate of both.
Conclusion If you give a seed water then it will increase the germination rate of alfalfa seeds. If you add to much the seeds will drown.
