We know that plants can produce oxygen. We know how plants grow from water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide; and how they produce oxygen. What question interests us is what liquids allow them to germinate. |
Research Question |
Does the type of water affect the germination of a seed? We came up with this question by looking at a list of questions. Our question fits the topic because we already know about the different types of water and how the germination process works. |
Predictions |
We predict that the regular water and the mix of 0.1 g of baking soda and 0.5 ml of water will make the plants germinate and the rest won't make it germinate. |
Experimental Design |
1. Get 5 pieces of paper towel.
2. Get 5 ml of tap water, 5 ml of water and 0.5 g of citric acid, 5 ml of water and 0.1 g of citric acid, 5 ml of water and 5 g of baking soda, 5 ml of water, and 1.25 g of baking soda.
3. Measure the PH of each liquid.
4. Wet the pieces of paper towel and set them in plastic bags.
5. Put 8 tomato seeds on the paper towels
6. Give the seeds 5 ml of their liquid each day.
7. Check and see how many seeds have germinated each day. |
