Wendy's Plants Going to Grow?

Project by group dmsgrayspring2022

Explore Plant need carbon dioxide and water to grow Plant need sunlight to grow If a plant has to much it will die pant weight comes from the carbon dioxide plant can make glucose and oxygen plant have cells that are always living seed on different plants are in different spots
Research Question How does the amount of water affect the germination speed of a plants?
Predictions The more water in the plant the more amounts of germination will happen. And if there is less amount of water in the plant it will decrease the amount of germination.
Experimental Design Procedure: 1. plant 4 pearl millet seeds into 9 petri dishes. 2. Put 10 drops of water with a syringe in 3 of the petri dishes 3.put 7 drops of water with a syringe in 3 of the petri dishes 4. put 4 drops of water with a syringe in 3 of the petri dishes 5.measure plant growth in cm every 6. repeat 2-5 five times
Conclusion The less water you give a seed the more it will increase the speed of germination. In our experiment the seeds with the least amount of water grow the most because 10 drops of water is too much water causing our seeds germination average to be 4.375cm on the last day of measuring. 7 drops of water is also too much water. During our experiment 25% of our plants were dying causing our seeds germination average to be 3.6cm on the last day of measuring. 4 drops of water was a good amount of water for each seed. They did not get overwatered and none of our seeds were dying causing our seeds germination average to be 5.1cm on the last day of measuring. The reason our results for our project where because when water causes small air pockets of oxygen by water getting in the large pockets of oxygen causing the plant to lose oxygen and having too much water kills the plants. This is different from the prediction because I did not think 10 drops of water was too much for a plant to absorb. The test was fair but our result could be questionable because it is hard to measure a plant's stem by moving it.
