If we put 3 fava beans under a paper towel and give it three pipets each day will it grow as well as the 3 fava beans on top of the paper towel given 3 pipets a day? |
Research Question |
if we put a seed under the paper towel will it grow faster than one above a paper towel |
Predictions |
If we put the seeds under the paper towel, then they will grow faster than the ones on top. |
Experimental Design |
step1: grab 2 paper towels
step2: put 3 full pipets of water on the paper towels
step3: grab plastic bags and carefully put the paper towels in the bag
step4: put 10 fava beans over and under the paper towels
step5: leave bags at school overnight
step6: take out fava beans
step7: get a new paper towel and clean bag
step8:measure the root and put them back in the bag in the same position
step9: repeat step 5, 6, 7, and 8 for 1 week |
Conclusion |
Clam: If you put the seeds under the paper towel then they will grow better than the seeds on top of the paper towel.
Evidence: We put 10 seeds under a paper towel and 10 on top of the paper towel in 2 different bags. Each day for 7 days we gave each bag 10 full pipettes. On days 3 and 7 the seeds on the bottom had a better average growth. Day 3 was o cm to .4 cm, and day 7 3.7cm to 5.6 cm.
Reasoning: Plants germinate best when moist and warm. The seeds under the paper towel were a lot moisture and warmer than the ones on top because the water soaked through the paper towel making it moister and therefore the bottom ones grew better |
