Explore what soil is best for corn? Corn grows best in loam soils. For good germination of seeds, the soil needs to be 60°F or above. Corn is a heavy feeder, especially of nitrogen (fertilizer). Follow your soil test recommendations or use two pounds of 5-20-20 fertilizer per 100 square feet of soil. what soil absorbs water the best? Loam Soil is best. A combination of sand, silt, and clay particles, this soil absorbs water readily and is able to store it for use by plants. Loam absorbs water at a rate between 1/4 and 2 inches per hour. Sandy Soil, because it has very large spaces, absorbs water at a rate of more than 2 inches per hour. lastly what soil is all around the best? Loam soil is often thought of as the ideal soil type for plants because it's a combination of all the above-mentioned soils. It also has enough nutrients to sustain plants and crops. It's easy to plant with and drains well. Numerous plants and crops plant well in loam soil.
Research Question How does the different type of soil affect corn seed growth?
Predictions we predict that mrs greys garden soil will be the best becuase she looks like she knows whats shes doing .
Experimental Design Get 3 plastic water bottles with the top cut off Put 1 cup of potting soil into one of the bottles With the other 2 bottles, fill one with 1 cup of sand and the other with 1 cup of local soil Plant 5 corn seeds in each bottle halfway down Put 2 tbs of water in each bottle Water them each as needed Set them in the classroom with light over them so they can grow We will observe how long the stem grows in cm
