I know that plants need water, soil, and sunlight to grow and strive. We have discovered that some plants have developed to be carnivores. We want to know if plants can survive without sunlight, if any plants in the shade, or caves, or under trees were there is no sunlight can still survive. ND |
Research Question |
We want to test the growth of plants with fertilizer and how much and if the fertilizer affects the growth of the plants. We came up with the question because we wondered why we needed the fertilizer in the first place, so we wanted to see if an extra fertilizer helped it in any way. My explanation is, if one helps it grow two can only help it grow more. ND |

Experimental Design |
Our plan is to grow mustard seeds using 3 different cups each different from each other. Each cup will have 25% Vermiculite and 75% soil in each cup. The soil we use is specific for flower plants. Cup A we dug a half inch hole in which we added a Osmocote plant food and a plant sees for six different holes in that cup. Cup B consisted of 6 half-inch holes which we added only seeds. Cup C consisted of a larger cup with the same measurements as other cups. We did the same procedure for cup A, but, we added two osmocote in each hole. The variables that stayed the same were the amount of soil and vermiculite in each cup. 25% and 75%. We are adding the same amount of water to each cup, enough to make it moist but not drown it. Also, we put them all in the same growing station so they get the same amount of sunlight. We will record our data by measuring the height of the plant on each measuring day. ND |
