Project by group cgpsbuckleyfall2017

Explore They photosynthesize and provide us with oxygen. We learned in class that plants are green because they reflect green light, and plants gain most of their mass from photosynthesis. How do pigments absorb light?
Research Question Will a plant perform photosynthesis under green light? We know that plants absorb certain wavelengths of light.
Predictions We think that the plant in the cup under the green light will not perform photosynthesis because Chlorophyll A and B do not absorb green wavelengths.
Experimental Design We will hole punch 10 spinach leafs for each of the two cups filled with CO2, and vacuum in a syringe out the oxygen from the leaf disks and place one of the cups under a white lamp, and one cup under a green light. We will test wether the different lights have an effect on wether the leaf disks will rise and perform photosynthesis. Will will observe any bubbles that form around the leaf disk to let us know wether the plant is performing photosynthesis.
