cornotopia

Project by group bhmskosmoskiwosspring2018

Explore We know that corn is grown in warm weather. Also that it takes about 60 to 100 days.
Research Question Does the amount of acid (lemon juice) put into the soil effect how the plant grows?
Predictions We think that the plants with less acid will grow better because the acid rate for corn is 6.5 and the neutral number is 7.
Experimental Design Our plan is to plant the corn how you usually plant it. Half the soil moist and cool and the the other half warm and dry. Then, for the first three seeds we will add 4 drops of lemon juice. For the second three seeds we will add 2 drops of lemon juice.
Conclusion Our group only had two plants grow out of six. According to the control group all their corn plants grew. We think that corn doesn't need extra acid in the soil. We could expand this project by seeing if corn can grow in a dark space with lemon juice or if the corn grow better in the sunlight with lemon juice.
