Hi all! Apologies for the delay in a response, but its great that you all have begun designing an experiment. 

Here are a few questions that I'd love to hear more about:

- will these radish plants be grown outdoors or will you be using another light source to grow them indoors? 

- will the freezer plants be in freezer 24/7? 

- how long will you keep this experiment going go for? 

- how will you measure the 'growth' in this experiment?

'Growth' can be different measurements for the fully grown plants vs seeds. For example, you could measure adult plants by how much it elongates (total height in cm) each day and eventually calculate its growth rate. For the seeds, you could count how many have 'germinated' in a set amount of time. Germination just refers to a stage when the seed finally develops a little root or, in this case, it can be when you notice that a seedling emerges from the soil. 

Also if you didn't want to have plants/seeds in the freezer or on a heating pad 24/7, you could introduce them to a shorter cold or hot period. For the fully grown plants, it could be placing them in the freezer for a few hours and seeing how long-lasting the cold effect is on their growth compared to normally grown plants at room temperature. For the seeds, you can have them on a hot pad or in the freezer for a day or two and then remove them. Then you can see how their germination has been affected by that short-hot or cold period.

Hi Camden! It's so exciting that you all are beginning your own projects. I would also like to note that this project involved looking at a plant's anatomy, which is a topic that I love!

I'll ask you the same question that I asked Keelie, which leaf do you hypothesize to have more or less stomata. And why? Have you seen any previous evidence to suggest there may be a difference in stomata on these two leaves? Another aspect that I encourage you to explore is to ask how this project can include topics that you learned about photosynthesis. 

Right now this project involves looking at the individual cells but another layer you could explore is the function of the cells. We know stomata assist with gas exchange needed in photosynthesis so you could also look at the rates of respiration using the methods you learned in the floating disc experiment.
