Here's the Excel file I was using to look at your data, hopefully you can see it okay. If you scroll down you can see the two graphs I was mentioning yesterday. I hope seeing the data in this way is helpful for interpreting the results!! 

We often use averages in science because then your results are representing more data at one time, and that means we can trust it more. As you saw, there was variation in each set of four plants (this is why we wanted multiple plants per treatment too), but we can find the overall trend easily using their averages. 

Do you guys have questions about the graphs we've made, or how? What are the overall trends you guys see?

Your graphs look great so far!! I recommend that you guys compare your graphs using the same scales on height axis (i.e. for each buckwheat graph, make the scale on the y-axis go up to 16cm). This will allow you guys to compare the heights between treatments more easily because they will be standardized.

If you want to do this on Excel:

1. Double click on the height numbers, this should bring up a side pop-up called "Format Axis", and click Axis Options

2. Click the fourth picture icon on the top that look like a bar graph

3. Click to the drop-down menu "Axis options" and change the Maximum bound to 16

4. Do this for each of your buckwheat graphs! You can do this for nasturtium too, to compare the two species!

While not necessary, it might make things easier! So no worries if you don't want to change it :)

Another side note: I was playing around with the data and made some interesting graphs. I'm not sure if I can share them with you yet, but I can briefly describe what they are in case you're interested! I wanted to make one graph comparing all treatments of buckwheat, and one graph comparing all treatments of nasturtium. So, first I added a row for the average height of the plants each day within their treatment (for example: on day 12 how tall on average were the four Gatorade buckwheat plants?). I excluded plants that didn't germinate from the average. Then, I made these averages for each plant species and each treatment! Finally, for both species, I made a line graph that has three lines: Average height of water plants, average height of fertilizer plants, average height of Gatorade plants over time. This makes it easier to interpret the overall trends across all plants! These graphs are just an extra bit that you guys can try for fun (but you definitely don't have to!), and I'll see if I can share them with you guys :)
