I am interested in understanding how plants coordinate nutrient export from leaves with seed development, particularly when they are under stress. Specifically, I want to learn about how the leaves respond to low iron availability in the soil.

  • Profile Question 1
What is the coolest thing you have discovered or learned about plants?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Plants are sneaky. Since they are unable to move from one location to another, they've been able to evolve really elegant mechanisms for fighting against things that could eat them. For example, when some plants sense that they are being chewed on, they start to make chemicals that will attract predators of the organism that's chewing on them.

That looks like an excellent research question that you've got and a very well thought out experiment that you are planning. What makes you think that the size of the leaf disk will affect the rate of photosynthesis?

Just a couple…

Hi team!

What a neat experiment that you did to investigate photosynthesis! I took a look at your poster and thought that it was a nice summary of what you were able to do in the lab. What did you find interesting about the experiment?

Cheers,
