Profile

  • Time Zone
    Eastern

  • Organization
    Rutgers University

  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
I'm interested in how changing landscape dynamics affect disease transmission. For my dissertation work, I'm using mathematical modeling to explore where and when mosquito control measures should occur in order to best reduce the number of people who become infected with mosquito-borne viruses, especially when resources are limited.

  • Profile Question 1
Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
I was not interested in science at all until the tenth grade when I started learning about Darwin's observations and evolution by natural selection. I wrote an essay with more about my nontraditional background that can be found at http://survivegradschool.weebly.com/essays--7.html.

  • Profile Question 2
What is tough about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
It's difficult for me to explore just one thing at a time, since there are so many interesting questions, all of which lead to even more interesting questions!

  • Profile Question 3
    (not set)

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
    (not set)

  • Capacity: How many teams at a time are you comfortable working with?
