Hello All, 

First, I would like to say kudos to the *awesome* group name! I enjoy a witty pun (especially the nerdy science ones).

My name is Raisa ("ray-suh") Barrera and I am a graduating senior Biology major at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA.  I am studying diverse areas of Biology (dealing with humans, animals, plants, and microscopic organisms) but I love environmental science.  Most recently, I finished a research internship with the Department of Homeland Security where I got to study plant DNA from plants along the coast of Virginia!  I'm applying to graduate school right now to pursue environmental science and public policy (AKA I want to know how the world works and how we can make laws and regulations to help protect it!).

Outside of science - I also *love* Stranger Things and Game of Thrones!  Reading through everyone's introductions, I see many of you also are fans, awesome!  In addition to my love of those two shows, I enjoy reading on the beach, nature hikes, trying new restaurants, and traveling to see different museums all over.
