    I am working on the interaction between rice and one of its bacterial pathogens; Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo). Xoo causes bacterial leaf blight disease in rice. I am working on the understanding of virulence mechanisms of bacteria and also on the defense mechanisms of rice. I am also involved in the development of novel rice varieties with important agronomic traits such as high yield, tolerance to pathogens and insect pests etc.
