  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
Generally, I am interested in plant evolutionary biology. I am currently conducting research on the evolution of weedy radish, Raphanus raphanistrum.

  • Profile Question 1
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
The best thing about being a scientist is that I get to learn something new every day, and share what I've learned with other people.

  • Profile Question 2
What is tough about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
The toughest thing about being a scientist is when a project or experiment that you have invested a lot of time and energy into just doesn't work out. It can be very disheartening, but it's important to remember that there's always something to learn from those experiments (even if it's just what not to do next time).

  • Profile Question 3
What was the first science experiment you ever designed? How did it turn out?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
The first experiment I ever designed was testing the effects of acid rain on plant growth. I was in middle school at the time, so my parents helped me to grow plants from seeds and prepare my "acid rain" solution (which had a pH between 4 and 4.5). I can't even remember how the experiment turned out, but I remember how much fun I had picking a topic and designing and then conducting an experiment for it.

  • Capacity: How many teams at a time are you comfortable working with?
    1
