    Mississippi State University

  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
I am interested in wildlife ecology including birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. My research focuses on trophic (what eats what and energy exchange), community (who works with whom), and other ecological pursuits.

  • Profile Question 1
What was the first science experiment you ever designed? How did it turn out?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Collecting deposition from below colony-nesting waterbirds. Measuring the nutrient concentrations in this material and using it in green house experiments to see how it affects plant growth.

  • Profile Question 2
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
I cannot remember a time when I was not interested in science. I used to spend most of my time outside and when not there, I was inside watching life outside.

  • Profile Question 3
What is tough about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
Science is about testing ideas and then having those ideas tested in a larger forum. Sometimes, fostering an idea and then having it tested by others can be difficult. Owning an idea to have it broken can make you sad. However, science is one of those things that when underlying ideas are broken, they can become stronger.
