Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
I studied Biology in college and obtained a license in Medical Technology. I worked in a microbiology lab for 7 years. During that time, I received my degree in Public Health and began to work as a clinical research associate in clinical trials. In 2004, I decided to return to school and get a Masters in Science Education. I had a wonderful mentor at my local high school. I worked as a substitute teacher for a year, before beginning to work at my current school. At Columbia Prep, I teach Biology to 9th graders and Genetics to 11th and 12th graders. I love teaching! My students are dedicated and curious. I believe in a student centered inquiry based class. I encourage my students to ask questions and engaged in class discussions. In addition, I enjoy learning as much as I can and I take courses each year to further my own knowledge and to enhance my students' learning.
