Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):As a Peace Corps Volunteer in 1980, I was interested in food production systems in Africa and this led me to pursue an MS and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics.

Profile Question 2What is your favorite plant? Why?

Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):Sorghum, because it is an ancient old world crop that feeds over 500 million of the most vulnerable farmers in the world. It is drought tolerant and grows under harsh agricultural conditions, but has tremendous yield potential.
