  • Profile Question 1
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
I get to discover things no one else knew about before. I get to design experiments and test hypotheses to figure out what is happening in a given situation.

  • Profile Question 2
Can you share a funny/interesting lab or field story?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
While collecting algae for a study, I was attacked by a goose that had snuck up from behind me, and had a sore behind for weeks! I also got dirty looks from the folks fishing nearby because of my yelling and swearing, especially after I tripped and fell in the mud while dancing about and yelling at the goose.

  • Profile Question 3
What is the coolest thing you have discovered or learned about plants?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
That plants can do most things animals can do, they just have more limitations on how and when they can do it. Sort of like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire: Ginger was a better dancer because she had to dance backward and in high heels.
