  • Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
I started my teaching career working as an AmeriCorps in various classes around the Corvallis, Oregon area, supporting students in growing and planting rare and endangered plants. This gave me the confidence to teach for two years as a high school science teacher in Kenya through the Peace Corps. I taught physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and agriculture. I returned to the U.S. and received my M.S. in Plant Biology, researching the impact of prescribed fire on rare insects. Ultimately, I missed teaching! Since 2014 I have worked in rural schools in Vermont, and have taught biology, physics, chemistry, environmental science, earth & space, marine science, and others. I am currently teaching Biology, Botany, and Zoology.
