  • Research Interests (300 words)
pollination ecology, plant reproductive biology, phenology, niche ecology, chemical ecology, community ecology

  • Profile Question 1
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
I have so many! I love palo verdes for their amazing green, photosynthesizing trunk and their beautiful yellow flowers and how they contrast with the blue sky when you are in their native habitat, like the deserts of the Southwest US. I also love to watch their pollinator, a type of oil-collecting bee, is it them when they flower.

  • Profile Question 2
What is best about being a scientist?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
I love learning new interesting science facts about plants, animals and the world where we live and when you are a scientist you never stop learning new things, so it is never ever boring. I also love that we get to make discoveries and help advance our research fields in ways we conceptualize. It is also great to see new students join us in this task and pass on to them what we have learned so far and see their excitement grow when they start a project on their own.

  • Profile Question 3
When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
I decided to do into a science career when I was an undergraduate student and met other scientists (my professors) in college. Until then, I knew no other person who was a scientist so it was hard for me to imagine how their job was. I thought for a while that I was going to be a biology teacher but then I had the opportunity to participate on a research project in the rain forest and I really liked doing field work, observing plants and bees and collecting data. I am so happy I chose this profession and I am always happy at work ready to learn more about plants and their pollinators every day.

  • Capacity: How many teams at a time are you comfortable working with?
