  I study how plants respond to different climates. In each plant cell is the same set of DNA. Plants can choose to turn on or off certain parts of their DNA in response to heat or lack of water. I am interested in how plants do this.

  When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  I became fascinated in biology when my parents took me to the zoo at a young age. My interests grew more throughout the years as I learned about the biology of plants. I love my career as a plant scientists because I can use my science to help the world around me!

  Science is difficult, but also rewarding. A lot of the time, experiments don't work. However, when they do, it is incredibly rewarding and I feel like I have made a positive change on our knowledge of plants.

  My best advice for students preparing for a science career is to find what interests you the most, whether it be plants, chemistry, health, or something else. Once you have your interest, look for opportunities to involve yourself with that interest.
