  I am a Plant Evolutionary Ecologist particularly interested in the ecological interactions between plants and animals, particularly pollination and herbivory by insects. I have also worked in the evolution of mating system. Currently in my lab, we are also investigating epigenetic regulation in wild plant populations.

  I have made some outreach activities aiming to introduce plants and epigenetics to primary school pupils. Our best experience was with the Epigenetic Orchestra Project described in doi:10.1186/s12052-021-00146-y

  When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  When I was in the University (Biology). I liked the interaction with young teachers usually expleaining the practical lessons in lab/field, most of them were doing their PhDs and were very motivated

  You have freedom to be curious and decide what is worth to try next

  I could answer the same than before, freedom also means you have to convince yourself what is worth to try next. Once you decide the topic, you need to prepare many other things for designing a good project and convince the others that is worth to support it.
