    I have been most interested in how the genetics of plants change due to humans introducing them to new areas.

    What is your favorite plant? Why?

    Equisetum arvense is my favorite plant. I like how unassuming it is and how I am always surprised when I stumble upon it during a walk in the woods. It also makes my imagination drift to prehistoric thoughts of it being much the same while dinosaurs walked the earth.

    Do you have advice for students about preparing for a science career?

    No matter the field of science that interests you, my recommendation is to take some scripting/programming courses because your versatility and efficiency in research will be improved.

    When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

    I decided to pursue a career in science after graduating college with degrees in literature and creative writing, my life long passions. I changed direction after graduating because I realised there were more job opportunities in the sciences and I always did well in my science classes in school.
