Research Interests (300 words)My research interest is plant development, in our lab we work mainly with plants that are not well studied, we go outside of model plants (plants used by most research teams) to try and understand what genes are involved in developmental processes through the whole plant, with emphasis in flower and fruit development. I'm also interested in plant classification and biogeography.

Profile Question 1What is your favorite plant? Why?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):The plant from my username, Gasteranthus calcaratus. The reason is, one day while we were outside collecting plant in a nature reserve, I saw this little plant on the ground, surrounded by a ton of other plants of different species, while being the only one with flowers, next to a little creek, and to me it looked so beautiful and special, from that moment I fell in love with that plant family.

Profile Question 2Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):I knew I loved nature in general since I was a kid, but I didn't really knew anything about science besides what was shown in TV channels like discovery, animal planet and NatGeo, nonetheless, I was intrigued by the people behind these shows, I admired them and thought they were amazing, both by everything they do and how hard they work to architect things I didn't even understand. I then began to learn what scientists actually are and what they do and I thought "I want to be like that too, understand the world" and that's pretty much all I knew and my attitude in those years.
-
Profile Question 3What is tough about being a scientist?
-
Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):There are a lot of things that are hard, but I think the main one is understanding your won't ever be able to understand it all, both because there is just too much that still needs to be done and there are too few people doing science. This is the reality of doing science right now, but it's also encouraging in sense, because there is still so much to do, anyone with passion for the field can make great contributions in their respective field, or even help out in the process.

Hi Lauro,
Oh no, did they all die? If so, well, I hope you can still take the measurements or data you need from another person in class, now you know, a lot of plants will die when they get too stressed, that's a nice result although sad for…

Great! As with people, and living things in general, excess of anything will be detrimental for it, as you are seeing with this experiment, when there are too many nutrients available for the plants, they don't thrive, they actually get damaged…

Nice! Do your plants also have little hair like things growing on their surface? If they do, maybe you could also measure that trait.
I like the prediction, comparing between treatments is a good way to understand what is happening in the…
