  I study dead plants. REALLY dead plants! I am a paleobotanist, which means that I study plant fossils. Some of the fossils I study are over 100 million years old!
  
  Studying fossils is important for understanding the evolution of life on our planet. Fossil plants are interesting to me for two reasons: (1) plants evolve in strange ways compared to animals and other life forms, (2) fossil plants can tell us how drastically environments have changed over time.
