    Texas Tech University

  • Role
Scientist Mentor: I will mentor teams of students online

  • Research Interests (300 words)
My research interests are mainly surrounding bryophytes, or moss. This was the first project I worked on, searching for a possibility of a hidden, or cryptic, species within a specific moss. I also am interested in flowering plants, also known as angiosperms.

  • Profile Question 1
Do you have advice for students about preparing for a science career?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 1 here (300 words):
Network, network, network! Having connections is one of the most important things about science development. Having friends and connections can help you publish a paper (peer review), replicate experiments, and much more.

  • Profile Question 2
What is your favorite plant? Why?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 2 here (300 words):
Viola Tricolor, also known as a pansy, was the first flower I botanized.

  • Profile Question 3
Can you share a funny/interesting lab or field story?

  • Answer the question you selected for profile question 3 here (300 words):
I fell out of my lab’s research van, and I had to put so many elmo bandaids on!

  • Preferred Investigation Themes
The Power of Sunlight (photosynthesis and respiration)
The Wonder of Seeds (seed germination and growth)
C-Fern in the Open (sexual reproduction, alternation of generations)
