Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
I firmly believe that education is a powerful tool that can transform the world. Our experiences shape who we are, and as an educator, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment that provides students with diverse opportunities to explore their individual identities. As a teacher, it's essential to recognize that academic success isn't the sole focus; socio-emotional issues must also be addressed to help students reach their full potential.
In my classroom, I encourage my students to express themselves, accept who they are, and embrace the differences of others. This mindset is particularly important to me, as I faced similar challenges as a student and adult. Learning to embrace myself and become the best version of me allowed me to achieve more and excel in life. I work hard to foster a proactive attitude towards learning and encourage my students to explore opportunities outside the classroom to become well-rounded adults.
My upbringing has had a significant impact on my teaching style. I grew up in a reserved Indian family, where higher education for women was not a priority. Despite the challenges, I pursued higher education, including a Ph.D., while raising a family. My perseverance through these obstacles led me to a career in education, where I want to impart the value and importance of education to my students.
My family values, such as responsibility and organization, play a crucial role in my teaching techniques. Being prepared and ready for the day's lessons, with materials and lesson plans completed, is a priority for me. I strive to instill the same values in my students, as they are essential for success in and out of the classroom.
I am a people's person and enjoy learning new concepts and accepting new challenges. Teaching has always been my inspiration, and it gives me a sense of purpose to see my students succeed. As an educator, I recognize the importance of my role in shaping the future of society. I provide students with relevant information, encourage critical thinking skills, and connect them to real-world experiences to broaden their perspectives.
Incorporating technology into the classroom is also crucial to prepare students for an ever-changing world. I take great pride in creating hands-on activities that help students learn and retain knowledge. By setting high expectations and introducing them to new possibilities, I encourage students to become proactive in their education.
Ultimately, education is about personal growth and development. My goal is to empower my students to become lifelong learners, responsible citizens, and critical thinkers. By inspiring my students to make a positive impact on society and embrace diversity, I hope to contribute to a brighter future.
