  • Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
    I have been teaching high school science including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science for the past 25 years as well as occasionally serving as an adjunct in higher ed. I am a tinkerer, researcher, explorer, learner, teacher, protector, mom and foster (dog) mom who is always looking for ways to grow. I have a BA in Chemistry Education, an MSEd with Chemistry Emphasis, an MS in Educational Technology, a certificate in K-12 Gifted Education and am currently pursuing National Board Teacher Certification in AYA Science. Beyond teaching, I volunteer in animal rescue as a foster and transporter and enjoy fishing, sewing and wood working. I am an active volunteer with both Girl Scouts and Scouts BSA, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha women’s fraternity, numerous science and education associations and have served as a missionary around the world, including leading 2 teams to East Africa. I have been married for 17 years and have 2 children, ages 9 and 11, as well as 2 resident dogs and a hedgehog at home, and an axolotl and aquatic turtle that reside in my classroom.
