  • Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
    Cappi Coleman has taught Biotechnical Science at Wes Watkins Technology Center for the last 7 years. Cappi Coleman began her teaching career as THE science department at a K-12 school for 7th through 12th grades for 9 years. Ms. Coleman has the ability to engage her students with her knowledge, her unending curiosity, and her witt in the classroom. During her time at Wes Watkins, Cappi Coleman has been instrumental in expanding student experience and learning with the Anatomage cadaver table, using NASA activities to move “Science Matters” for 5th graders to a leading-edge STEM space exploration experience, transforming capstone projects into career driving investigations, and changing lives through Adult Education. Cappi has presented four years at Summer Educator Institute: Mission To Planet Earth (MTPE), hosted by NASA Oklahoma Space Grant Consortium, Oklahoma Science Teacher Association conferences, Ag in the Classroom Summer Conference, and at TCTW in Nashville. Cappi Coleman is a volunteer for Blue Thumb, a program offered through the Oklahoma Conservation Commission’s Water Quality Division, and monitors a local stream with the help of her students. She spends her free time beekeeping, kayaking, wandering creeks, and living her best life.
