  • Describe your teaching experience and interests in a brief public biography (200 words)
My teaching experience started in 2007 in Tucson, Arizona at a Title 1 school for 11 years and extended to Long Island City, New York for an additional four years to the present. I have taught, biology, living environment, chemistry, earth science, AP Biology and AP Environmental Science. My interests have always encompassed living and environmental science concepts. My dissertation is in science education in biology. Project-based, problem-based and place-based learning are effective instructional methods for students that provide real-world experiences, collaboration, and rigorous thought processes for my students. I have a personal interest in biotechnology, specifically genetic engineering. Allowing my students to participate in your program will bring about different possibilities for my students' futures as scientists. There is an entire scientific world out there besides business in New York City that may open doors for my students' future endeavors.
