  I am in In inves how crop ROTATION, cover crops, conservation Practice, diversification affect soil Quality , economic viability and crop productivity at smallscale farming systems. Agroecology, sustainable rural development, crop physiology, soil fertility, sustainable soil management, pest control in maize, maize breeding are among my Area of expertise. I would like to have an opportunity to teach and mentor sTudents based on my experiences teaching here in Mexico and Brazil.

  Maize is my favorite plant based on its great importance for the whole world. It’s among the most three most consumed grain around the world and it’s an annual plant that can be produced in a very short time and can be eaten in so many different ways.

  Being a scientist helps us to observe some problems, investigate the problems and come up with some viable solutions that can have great impacts on our community, people and the whole society.

  When and why did you decide to go into a science career?

  Because I wanted to be able to help my smallholder farmers in the region where I grew up. Farmers face a lot of problems related to the agricultural practices they adopted, I wanted to become a scientist and see how I could be useful to improve these bad agricultural practices adopted by farmers of my region.
