    Every day brings new questions so there is always something new to research and think about.

    Can you describe your attitude toward science when you were in high school?

    I enjoyed biology because we got to dissect all sorts of living creatures and see their insides. It was very hands on. Each creature seemed like a wonderfully complex machine with lots of parts working together.

    What is the coolest thing you have discovered or learned about plants?

    Plants sense their environment in many ways and respond to things going on around them. They interact all the time, and so I like to think that they also interact with me.
